This card was inspired by the below card created by the ridiculously talented and absolutely hilarious, Laura Bassen:

My sister’s friend asked for a Thank You Shaker Card in red for a bridesmaid.  I just had to use this cute little panda image from Mama Elephant!

Congrats on Taking the Plunge!

Hi!  When I first started getting into stamping, Unity Stamp Co came out with a HILARIOUS stamp set called “AH Crap”.  Since my family is HUGE on potty jokes, this kit was PERFECT for me.  I created a card inspired by the talented Alyssa Leanne:

One of my husband’s friends got married recently and I thought they’d get a chuckle out of this wedding card:

  2. Cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of cardstock out of Neenah Solar White 80lb. Cardstock
  3. Cut apart the plunger from the plunger/toilet stamp – Trust me, it makes it MUCH easier to stamp
  4. Stamp the plunger in Versafine Smokey Gray Ink using a T-Square Ruler to keep all of the stamped plungers straight
  5. For the spotlight plunger, stamp with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink and color with markers
    1. Add a little sparkle to the spotlight plunger with some Clear Wink of Stella
  6. Stamp the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat emboss on Vellum
  7. Adhere stamped vellum next to the plunger using Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue making sure to keep glue behind the sentiment
  8. Use foam adhesive to adhere the stamped cardstock to the card base
  9. For the back of the card, stamp the toilet paper roll and sentiment from the Crappy Day Stamp Set from Unity Stamp Co with Versafine Smokey Gray Ink and include your initials
  10. Sit back and grin at this hilarious card!

Pretty Pink Posh: Cutting Edge Blog Hop Card #2

Hi Everyone!  Today is the last day to enter into the Pretty Pink Posh blog hop!!  My second card is inspired by JJ Bolton’s lovely cloud background and this gorgeous spring card that the talented Lisa Spangler created here:

Since fall is right around the corner, I thought it’d be great to create a card featuring some lovely autumn colors.  Since i’m absolutely obsessed with shaker cards ever since Paulina from Pretty Pink Posh hosted her first blog hop, I had to make another one!

Pretty Pink Posh: Cutting Edge Blog Hop

Hi!  Please excuse the complete mess that is my blog but I’m a complete newbie to the blogosphere and I am trying to sort through it all!  I have been pretty hesitant at uploading any of my cards online because I don’t think my work is that great (plus I’m a horrible photographer) and I typically just reproduce cards that inspire me from blogs that I follow so I don’t feel like I should be posting them online.  In any case, I just HAD to get in on the fun at Pretty Pink Posh’s Cutting Edge Blog Hop!  So, here goes my very first card post to be submitted for my very first blog hop!!  EECK!!!

Wedding Shaker

For this hop, I created a wedding shaker card featuring some Mama Elephant goodies (my absolute favorite stamp company) and my new Pretty Pink Posh Film Strip Die!  See below for steps to recreate the card:

  1. Cut and score an A2 landscape notecard from Neenah Solar White Cardstock
  2. Use the Mama Elephant Basic Set Creative Cuts dies to die cut the scallop base layer
    1. Use Spun Sugar Distress Ink and blend over the card base
    2. Use the Mama Elephant Love Quotes Stamp Set to stamp miniature hearts in Spun Sugar Distress Ink to create a background
    3. Adhere onto the A2 card base
  3. Use the Mama Elephant Basic Set Creative Cuts dies to die cut the stitched rectangle from vellum
    1. Use the Technique Tuesday Happily Ever After Stamp Set to stamp the sentiment
    2. Emboss the sentiment using clear embossing powder
    3. Add some embellishments to the bottom so that you can hide the glue
  4. Create the shaker
    1. Use the PPP Film Strip Die and die-cut several pieces of Neenah Solar White Cardstock (I think I had like 7 of them!)
    2. Cut a rectangle strip from Neenah Solar White Cardstock to create the back of the shaker (approximately 4.75″ x 1.75″) and take one of the film strips and trace where the windows will be lightly with a pencil so that you know where to stamp
      1. Use the Mama Elephant Pandamonium Stamp Set to stamp the pandas in the windows at each side of the film strip
      2. Use the Mama Elephant Type It Stamp Set to stamp the heart in the center window with Hero Arts Pale Tomato Shadow Ink
      3. Use the Mama Elephant Honey Bunny Creative Cuts to die cut the top hat and little bow
    3. Cut a rectangle strip from acetate to create the window of the shaker (approximately 4.75″ x 1.75″)
    4. Adhere all of the film strips together except for one and attach to the stamped rectangle piece
    5. Fill the middle window with Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Sparkling Clear Sequins and mini glitter heart die cuts using the Mama Elephant Creative Cuts Basic Set
    6. Adhere the acetate and the last film strip die cut to complete the shaker
  5. Adhere the shaker to the top of the vellum
  6. Adhere the vellum to the A2 cardbase
  7. SHAKE!!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today and I hope you enjoyed my first real post as much as I had fun making it!
